“We must cultivate our own garden” Voltaire

The other day I looked at the Angel Face growing at the intersection of our side fence and the footpath (shown in the photograph above). The flowers were in full bloom and it looked really healthy. Suddenly I had the thought that I should cut it back. But why I responded back to myself. It is looking its best so why would you want to cut it back now?

This conversation with myself made me think that we can become obsessed with doing more, having more and being more. Rather than paying attention to this scarcity mindset, maybe it is possible to cultivate a sense of abundance by perpetuating the idea that I do enough, I have enough, I am enough.

We don’t always need to strive and achieve. The wisdom is taking time to appreciate just being. The Angel Face looks really pretty. I think I’ll just enjoy it as it is.
