Who I work With
I work with individuals who may want to discuss a particular problem with an objective listener, people who want to understand how their past experiences have conditioned them to behave in self-defeating ways, and people with psychological problems including:
- Anxiety & depression
- Weight and shape concerns
- Emotional overeating
- Acute and chronic stress
- Relationship problems
- Self-esteem and identity issues
- Grief and loss
- Sleep problems
- Interpersonal problems
- Chronic pain
My Therapeutic Style
My work is about helping people to understand why they are in their present unwanted state and provide skills to live in a way that is congruent with their values.
Therapy is conducted with a light touch, with honesty, kindness and humour. Treatment may be short-term (6-10 sessions) or for some problems, treatment may be conducted over many years. Specific interventions are drawn from:
- The Mindfulness-based approaches
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
- Mindful Eating
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing)
- Emotion Focussed Therapy
- Internal Family Systems
- Motivational Interviewing
- Schema therapy
- Psychoanalytic Theory
Where I work and How much it Costs
I practice in Sandringham on a Tuesday and South Yarra on a Friday. You do not need a referral to see me however, to obtain a Medicare rebate of approximately $85 per session you require a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your general practitioner.
I bulk bill everyone with a MHTP so there are no out-of-pocket expenses.
